Today, I’m sending out a big virtual hug to my dear friend, a musician that’s known as Star La’Moan, aka Marla Stone Lyons. She assembled a rockin’ little band known as the Kitchenettes that mixes blue music, New Orleans jazz, reggae, funk and a healthy dose of zydeco.
For years she’s been a prominent supporter of the LOUIE LOUIE documentary, and been playing LOUIE LOUIE on a regular basis with her Kitchenettes.
In 2020, she wound up with an awful illness that changed everything, and moved over 100 miles away from her home in Santa Cruz to get better treatment for this thing. While it seemed like she was getting better, the recovery was temporary, and she’s now dealing with an inevitable finale that’s sneaking up on her.
I hate the idea that she’ll be leaving the party sooner that we’d like.
I’m grateful that she’s got some awesome friends that are taking good care of her, and she was able to recently move back to the town that she loves.
Please join me in sharing some love for my good friend Starla Marla!

Eric, it’s been quite a ride!
As a longtime Marla Starla fan, I’ve been following Marla’s current circumstances and was actively hoping you’d be able to see her.
I’m so glad to know that you’ve brought her yet more comfort in this crazy world – thank you for this beautiful detailed post.
