This week’s LOUIE is a LOUIE that’s not the Richard Berry song. There’s a musician in Southern California named Luis Johnston that uses the stage name of “Luie Luie.” He released an album called “Touchy” in 1974 that’s been getting some attention 30+ years later. I’ve had a handful of friends mention this guy to me.
The catchiest song on this album is something called “El Touchy.” Thanks to the wonders of YouTube, you can hear this track free of charge.
If you’d like learn about Mr. Johnston, and maybe order a copy of his “Touchy” CD, you can visit the Companion Records website at:

There’s even a MySpace page for Mr. Luie Luie Johnston at:

So far, I haven’t seen any official website that provides any type of calendar for his various shows, but I’m assuming he continues to play different venues near the Victorville, CA area.
Thanks to Dangerous Minds for the latest reminder of this unique talent!
I found this page through Facebook (my friend posted it). After reading it, I clicked Like and shared it myseld. More power.
Great post as usual – here is a little something that made me smile
The universe is a figment of its own imagination. There’s no future in time travel.
i learned of luie luie from aquarius records, the best record shop in the world in my not so humble opinion.
i’ve heard that on occasion he still plays in so-cal. i want to, i must, i need to see luie luie. is there any info on any gigs? i love his music. if there were a mexican restaurant in bikini bottom where spongebob lives, luie luie would be the house band.
