I’m back intact from my quick little roadtrip to Southern California for this LOUIE project. I got a lot of good things done on this excursion, and I’ll reporting on some of this in future blog postings.
By producing this film, I’ve been accused of being nostalgic for the past, as I embrace and celebrate the music of this funny little song that was written in the 50’s, and made very big in the 60’s. I suppose I’m also nostalgic for a past that didn’t seem it was so very long ago. The last time I spent any serious time in Los Angeles…. as opposed to quick 12 hour visits, gas was only $1.50 a gallon and modestly cheap (not skank) hotel rooms were $40 a night. In 2007, gas is $3.30 a gallon, and the cheap hotel rooms are $85 a night. It doesn’t seem it like was that long ago, but there’s been a lot of changes in the past 8 years. Sometimes, life does feel so much like an episode of the Twilight Zone, where “normal” things are not quite “normal” anymore, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
Anyways, I’m back, and recharged with even more material for my documentary, which feels very invigorating….
